Hire a car shipping company
Americans don’t seem to stay in one place anymore, and car movers have plenty of shipping to do. Here are general tips about how to hire a car shipping company.
One, make use of the Internet. Look for car shippers in your area that ship to the city or country you wish to have your car sent. Not all car movers deliver to all areas in the US or all countries in the world. Use also the Internet to check the background of a car shipping company. See how they did with their past car deliveries and read what old customers have to say.
Two, compare car shipping quotations. Car shipping quotes are free online or over the phone. Compare at least 5 shipping companies to see which is more reasonably priced.
Three, get in touch with the car mover you wish to hire. Once you’ve narrowed down your list, talk to your car shipper over the phone or in person. Talk about booking a trip, pickup and delivery schedule, final costs, terms of payment, terms of pick up, insurance, the actual freight, discounts, car shipping method, and drop off.
Four, sign and pay. Once you have agreed upon prices and shipping terms, it’s time to sign the contract deal or bill of lading (BOL). The other half of the BOL will be signed by you later at the drop-off point as guarantee that you have received your car in perfect condition. Make the necessary deposit, typically not more than 50% of the total price. The balance will be paid later in cash after the delivery.
Fifth, the shipment. You hand over your car keys as the mover drives away with your car. Wait for it to arrive at the point of destination after a few days.
