Army Auto Shippers
Car shipping for the army is a specialized transportation service that may not be done by all shipping companies. Army auto shippers are knowledgeable of how the army does things and what military personnel are entitled to.
They service armed forces and government personnel. Soldiers, officers and people in the armed forces are regularly made to transfer and relocate to a different base.
Although the federal government takes care of the relocation bills by plane or other army transport services, a soldier sometimes needs to hire an army auto shipper for a second vehicle or simply wants to hire a private shipper for a quicker or safer transport of his or her private-owned vehicles (POV).
The government will spend for only one POV per soldier to his or her new duty station. The vehicle may be a car, motorcycle, scooter, van, or pickup as long as the soldier will show written certification that he or she owns or have leased the vehicle.
For vehicles on a long-term lease, the soldier must show a written authority from the leasing company. When asking the government’s help, the soldier or relatives should take the car to the port not more than 90 days after the solder has transferred to his or her new duty area.
The soldier must see to it that none of these items are found inside the POV: TV sets and VCRs, car accessories, flammable or hazardous materials such as oils, paints, solvents and waxes, and CB radios since these may be illegal in the area of destination. If a soldier failed to clear the POV of all these materials, the car may be impounded at the port indefinitely.
What the army personnel may leave inside the POV are jacks, spare tires, tire inflator, jumper cables, warning triangles, trouble lights, luggage rack, and other small items. If a soldier has more than one POV and would like to hire an army auto shipper, he or she could ask help from his or her base sponsor or the Transportation Officer.
There may be restrictions at the port of destination that the soldier has to know and be aware of. This is especially true when shipping cars overseas. The soldier may also be linked to a recommended shipping company that knows how the army wants it done. Instead of hiring a regular car shipping company that is capable of shipping to different military bases, the best choice is to hire a shipper that specifically serves military personnel.
A good example is the Military Auto Transport Company. This transport company ships primarily, if not exclusively, for the US Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coastguard and veterans. It is familiar with all the military bases and camps in the country. The company delivers base to base, base to residence, or residence to base, anywhere in the United States or in other countries with American bases in coordination with a military vehicle processing center.
Shippers such Military Auto Transport also ships golf carts, ATVs, RVs, machines, freight and others. All army auto shippers answer the importance of what they do and as homage to the soldiers, they give out special discounts and favors. For any inquiries, military personnel can always go to military.com for advice on such matters.
